Everyone aged 18 and over is welcome to get a library card and explore our collections! The library card is only valid at the National Library of Sweden and you can apply from home or in the library.

When you collect your library card, you will be asked to fill in a loan agreement at the information and loan desk. Do not forget to bring a valid ID! Once you have registered, you can order materials from our collections.

Access to audiovisual material

To access audiovisual material such as film, music, television or radio, you need both a library card at the National Library and to be registered as a user in Svensk mediedatabas (SMDB).
