Everyone aged 18 and over is welcome to get a library card and explore our collections! The library card is only valid at the National Library of Sweden and you can apply from home or in the library.

When you collect your library card, you will be asked to fill in a loan agreement at the Information and Loans Desk. Do not forget to bring a valid ID! Once you have registered, you can request materials from our collections.

Access to audiovisual material

To access audiovisual material such as film, music, television, or radio, you need a library card from the National Library of Sweden (KB) when visiting us in Humlegården. In some cases, you also need a user account in the Swedish Media Database (SMDB) to access the material. The requirement for such an account is that you have a specific research or study assignment.
