Everyone is welcome to visit the National Library of Sweden. Here you find everything you need to prepare your visit.

Opening hours

The National Library in Humlegården is open Monday – Saturday. Here you can find both regular opening hours and exceptions for public holidays.
New to the Library

The National Library is not like other libraries. Our collections are here for you to study today, but also for your relatives 100 years from now. Here is what you need to know before your visit.
How to get to the Library

The National Library of Sweden is open to everyone. You are welcome to visit us at Humlegårdsgatan 26, in central Stockholm.
Find your way around the Library

The National Library consists of both a grand 19th century building and a beautiful, modern glass annex. Here you will find several reading rooms. Where to turn to depends on the type of material you want to study.
Maps of the premises

There are five floors open to visitors. The entrance is on the fifth floor where you will also find the Information and Loans desk. Explore each floor using the maps below.
Accessibility

Everyone is welcome to visit the National Library. Here we have collected information related to making our environment accessible to all our visitors.
Places to eat and drink

The Library houses a restaurant and café. There is also a picnic room on the ground floor for those wishing to bring a packed lunch.
Library tours and visits

The National Library is primarily intended for those studying our material. But it is also a fantastic building encompassing both classic and modern architecture, design and art.
The Treasury Room

The Treasury Room is situated two floors down in our annex. This is where the Codex Gigas – also known as the Devil’s Bible – is kept on public display.
Filming and photographing for public production

To film or photograph at the National Library for a public production, special permission is required.
