Changes to the National Library's interlibrary loan service
On 7 December 2025, the interlibrary loan service at the National Library will cease.
The decision to change the National Library interlibrary loan service means that the National Library can devote more resources to making our own collection accessible.
Kungliga biblioteket is the National library of Sweden. This means that we are a library for all of Sweden. The interlibrary loan service to Humlegården is a local service for visitors with library cards who wish to read material that is not part of the National Library's collections.
The number of interlibrary loan orders decreases every year, yet the service is a resource-intensive activity for the library. The decision to change the National Library's interlibrary loan service means that the library can devote more resources to making our own collection accessible.
- On December 7, 2025, the interlibrary loan service to the National Library will cease
- Ongoing interlibrary loan cases will not be affected
- Lending of material from our collections to other libraries will continue as before
The service will continue but not at the National Library
We are aware that this change will affect several of our borrowers. However, the interlibrary loan service will remain at our university and public libraries. You can contact them if you need to order interlibrary loans from collections other than the National Library's.
