Limited service this summer

During the summer, the National Library operates a limited service and has special opening hours. In certain weeks, some services and collections are closed.

In June, July, and August, the National Library of Sweden has special opening hours. You can always find the latest information on the Opening Hours page.

Opening hours during Midsummer

  • Thursday 18 June 09–14 (limited service*)
  • Midsummer Eve, Friday 19 June: closed
  • Midsummer Day, Saturday 20 June: closed

* Limited service means:
Open: The Main Reading Room, the Research Reading Room and the Annex, including the News Reading Room and the Audiovisual Media computers for the Swedish Media Database (SMDB).
Closed: The Information Desks, the Catalogue Room and the Special Collections Reading Room.
During limited service it is not possible to collect loans.

Longer response times

The National Library of Sweden’s services are limited between 22 June and 16 August. This means you may have to wait longer for a response when contacting our staff or when ordering materials.

Closed collections

For a few weeks this summer, it will not be possible to request materials from several of our collections. We also have limited capacity to answer questions about the materials.

  • 6 July–9 August: Manuscripts, personal archives, maps, images, and photographs
  • 20 July–16 August: Ephemera and posters

Reproduction Services

The National Library of Sweden’s reproduction service, which produces copies and reproductions, will be closed 20 July–2 August.

The National Library Depot in Bålsta

The service in Bålsta is closed 29 June–7 August.

Rogge Library in Strängnäs

The Rogge Library is closed to visitors 6 July–10 August.

Donations to the National Library

The National Library of Sweden is unable to accept donations to the library’s collections between 22 June and 16 August. Please feel free to send an inquiry after that!
