Open access in Bibsam agreements

Publishing open access is free of charge or discounted in a large number of journals.

Through the Bibsam agreements, participating institutions cover publishing costs centrally. However, not all institutions take part in every agreement, and some have also signed separate agreements outside the Consortium. This means that the selection of journals that offer free or discounted publishing (no or reduced APCs) can vary between institutions.

Corresponding author and affiliation

To be eligible to publish open access under a Bibsam agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with a participating institution. This applies to all agreements, regardless of publisher or journal.

As a corresponding author, you must:

  • Be affiliated with a participating institution.
  • Base the article on research conducted at the affiliated institution.
  • State your affiliation both in the manuscript and in the published article.
  • Use your institutional email address when submitting a manuscript. Since publishers often use your email domain (for example, @su.se or @umu.se) to verify your eligibility, we recommend you use your institutional email address.

The corresponding author is the person who submits the manuscript and handles communication with the publisher during the publication process.
