Book locker in the Research Reading Room

If you need a large amount of reading room loans, i.e. material that cannot be borrowed to take home, you can apply for a book locker. You must also conduct research in the humanities.

The book lockers are located in the Research Reading Room on floor 5, inside the Main Reading Room. Other visitors are welcome to use the parts of the reference library located in the Research Reading Room, but the study places are only intended for book locker holders.

You need to meet these criteria:

  • You must have an extended need for reading room loans, i.e. books that cannot be borrowed to take home. By extended need we mean more than the seven that can be kept in the Information and Loans Desk. When applying, you must therefore have at least seven reading room loans or requests.
  • You must be conducting research or studies in the humanities, as the National Library is a research library primarily in the humanities. If you have a different subject, you may be denied a book locker.
  • You are expected to visit the National Library at least eight times a month.

If your application is approved, you will enter into an agreement with the National Library for a book locker (pdf) pdf, 192.6 kB..
