The Annex

The Annex consists of three floors and is an extension to the library. You reach the Annex by passing the exhibition about the National Library of Sweden and continuing down the stairs or taking the lift.

The annex includes study areas, computers for audiovisual media and reading rooms for newspapers and periodicals.

Floor 3

Floor 3 is the first floor on the way down in the Annex. Here are places for studying you own material. This is also where the auditorium is located, where we sometimes hold events.

Floor 2

Two floors down in the Annex you will find more places for studying your own material. Here you will also find computers where you can explore the National Library's audiovisual collections (sound and moving image) if you have an account in the Swedish Media Database External link.. In addition, a large selection of journals and periodicals are available to everyone. In the Treasury, the Codex Gigas is on display. It is also known as the "Devil's Bible".

Floor 1

At the bottom of the Annex you will find Swedish newspapers, both in digitized form and on microfilm. Anyone can use what is in the Newspaper Reading Room and no library card is needed.
