A radio set from the late 20th century

At the National Library of Sweden, we collect most of what is broadcast on Swedish radio. In our collection, you will mainly find radio programs from 1978 onwards. But we also hold a smaller selection of broadcasts from the early days of radio.

Mediesök

Explore our radio collections from the 1970s onward by searching through AI-transcribed text.

In Mediesök, you’ll find transcribed radio broadcasts along with the corresponding audio files. So far, the service includes everything that has been broadcast on P1 and most of Sveriges Radio’s local stations.

Content is added gradually as broadcasts are transcribed.

Mediesök is a pilot project designed to explore the possibilities of using AI to improve searchability in the National Library of Sweden’s radio collections. It was developed by KB-labb, the library’s own AI initiative, using speech-to-text models.

For researchers on-site at the National Library

For legal reasons, Mediesök is currently only available in the research rooms at the National Library of Sweden in Humlegården, Stockholm. You also need a user account in Svensk mediedatabas (SMDB) to use the service.
