Find and request audiovisual media

Audiovisual media includes music, radio, television, film, video and computer games. For copyright reasons, you access this material at the National Library on computers specifically intended for this purpose. You can also order audiovisual material as interlibrary loan.

How it works

  • You can access most audiovisual media via Svensk mediedatabas, SMDB (Swedish Media Database). External link.
  • If you visit KB in Humlegården in Stockholm, go to floor 2 of the Annex.
  • Log in with you library card at KB.
  • Search and play broadcast and published material that is already available digitally.
  • If you want to access unpublished material or material that is not already digital, you need to have a specific research assignment. Then apply for a user account in the SMDB.
  • Material that is not digitised must be ordered and digitised before it becomes available. This usually takes from a few days to a few weeks.
  • If your order is to be sent as an interlibrary loan to another library, the material will be transferred to DVDs and sent to the library in question. To order, apply for a user account in the SMDB.
