Application for Publishers

The publisher of the book applies for an ISBN.

Definition of Publisher

A publisher is a person or company/organization that issues a publication. The name entered in the "Publisher" field on the application for an ISBN must be the same as the publisher that will be specified in the book. An author who publishes a book through a publisher does not have to apply for an ISBN, since that will be taken care of by the publisher.

If two or more people publish a publication jointly, we recommend that only one of you applies for the ISBN.
