Main Desk

The Main Desk welcomes you as soon as you arrive at the National Library. If this is your first visit to the library, we can tell you all you need to know about using the library. For exampel how to borrow books, and that bags and coats must bee secured in lockers before entering the library proper.

The Main Desk also answers questions about our premises, hours, exhibitions, and special programs. To a certain extent, we can also tell you where reference works on various subjects are shelved in the Reference Library.

Please check in at the Main Desk if you have an appointment with someone at the library. You will be issued a visitor’s badge, which you must wear so that it can be easily seen while you are in the library.

The Main Desk also manages the National Library Shop, where you can buy useful items like note pads, pens, phone cards, and stamps, as well as gifts, cards, and a variety of publications.
