The National Library of Sweden in talks with SVT

Negotiations are currently in progress with regard to more in-depth cooperation concerning the archiving of audiovisual material.

Sveriges Television and the National Library of Sweden are asking for the government’s permission to build a new large digital archive for sound and image.

“Eva Hamilton and I have had constructive talks on the issue,” says Gunnar Sahlin. It now has to be put into a clear directive by the department so that we can conduct more in-depth studies and calculations.

“It’s extremely satisfying that the cooperation with SVT is about to become more intensive,” says Göran Konstenius, Head of the Department of Audiovisual Material at the National Library of Sweden, “especially considering that both the Swedish Culture Bill and the Film Commission are encouraging closer cooperation between the National Library of Sweden, Public Service and the Swedish Film Institute.”
